God Bless Dear Old Ireland (Southern)

Southern Ireland enjoys 3.5 million visitors from the UK each year providing an important contribution to their economy. This year, due to the proposed visit to the Emerald Isle by Her Majesty the Queen, numbers of visitors will doubtless increase. Much has been made of the fact that this is the first visit to Southern Ireland by a reigning monarch since George V. I am sure that his successor George VI, crowned 1936 died 1952, would have loved to have visited by unfortunately the second world war plonked itself right in the middle of his reign. Of course during the Second World War Southern Ireland was neutral, albeit with a pronounced bias towards our German foe who took advantage of the situation and flood Southern Ireland with very obvious spy’s who could easily cross the leaky border into Northern Ireland and do their dastardly worse gaining intelligence of Britannia’s intent, convoy details etc. Worse is yet to come. Ireland, being a neutral country, albeit chock a block with German spies “Gott in Himmel ve vill starve der Englanders into surrender, could not offer a safe haven for our convoys to start or complete their journeys across the Atlantic to or from America or Canada with the result that the convoys had to head out from Liverpool North of Ireland adding days to the journey and resulting in the loss of thousands of tons of shipping and countless lives which otherwise may have been saved. David Cameron recently pointed out that we needed to help bail out Southern Ireland because they were our closest neighbour and had historic ties with us. For what it’s worth my view is let the bastards drown in debt as our sailors drowned or froze in the North Sea. The real hoot is that the thick Mick’s thought that the jolly Hun and Herr Hilter in particular would let them carry on being a separate state after he invaded England go on treat yourself to another spud, go on go on go on.

Yahoo The Cavalry Are Here (A Tad Late)

The Obama administration is pushing hard for a Thursday vote on a U.N. Security Council resolution authorizing airstrikes and other measures to stop Libyan leader Col. Muammar al-Qaddafi from killing more civilians and defeating rebel forces in Libya. Hopefully at least one of the rebels is left alive by the time the airstrikes And other measures are rolled out.

The Philippines

Surely the reports on the wireless that Obama has asked his people to review the lessons of the American invasion of the Philippines in 1902 as part of his decision making process regarding a proposed no fly zone over Libya cannot be true! After all every hour passing before an intervention is made by the “free world” only results in more of the freedom fighters, recognised by France at least as the legitimate government, being killed. But perhaps I am being a little sensitive after all how long did it take the Yanks to lend a hand in the first and second World Wars?

Cameron on immigration

On the 24th June 2009 David Cameron stated that "Uncontrolled immigration has been 'damaging' for Britain and would be capped by a Tory government, David Cameron said last night.
He attacked Home Secretary Alan Johnson for declaring he 'did not lie awake' worrying about immigration that means Britain's population will rise from its current level of 61million to 70million in the next few years.
'Well, I do,' the Tory leader said. 'I thought it was an extraordinary statement to make.'
He added: 'The fact we have had uncontrolled immigration over the last decade, I think has been a mistake and has been damaging.

A Tory government is pledged to set annual limits on economic migration from outside the EU 'substantially lower' than the current rate and set up a border police force with powers to track down and remove illegal migrants."

In March 2011 his pledge to set up a boarder police force appears to be put is place by making half of the boarders agencxy redundant. Isn't that a bit counter intuitive?
