God Bless Dear Old Ireland (Southern)

Southern Ireland enjoys 3.5 million visitors from the UK each year providing an important contribution to their economy. This year, due to the proposed visit to the Emerald Isle by Her Majesty the Queen, numbers of visitors will doubtless increase. Much has been made of the fact that this is the first visit to Southern Ireland by a reigning monarch since George V. I am sure that his successor George VI, crowned 1936 died 1952, would have loved to have visited by unfortunately the second world war plonked itself right in the middle of his reign. Of course during the Second World War Southern Ireland was neutral, albeit with a pronounced bias towards our German foe who took advantage of the situation and flood Southern Ireland with very obvious spy’s who could easily cross the leaky border into Northern Ireland and do their dastardly worse gaining intelligence of Britannia’s intent, convoy details etc. Worse is yet to come. Ireland, being a neutral country, albeit chock a block with German spies “Gott in Himmel ve vill starve der Englanders into surrender, could not offer a safe haven for our convoys to start or complete their journeys across the Atlantic to or from America or Canada with the result that the convoys had to head out from Liverpool North of Ireland adding days to the journey and resulting in the loss of thousands of tons of shipping and countless lives which otherwise may have been saved. David Cameron recently pointed out that we needed to help bail out Southern Ireland because they were our closest neighbour and had historic ties with us. For what it’s worth my view is let the bastards drown in debt as our sailors drowned or froze in the North Sea. The real hoot is that the thick Mick’s thought that the jolly Hun and Herr Hilter in particular would let them carry on being a separate state after he invaded England go on treat yourself to another spud, go on go on go on.
